Conception Date vs. LMP

A known conception date is not always the same as the first day of the last menstrual period, often called LMP. LMP is commonly used in clinical pregnancy dating because it is easier to identify, while conception can occur later in the cycle and is often an estimate.

The Chinese Gender Predictor on this site asks for conception date because the traditional chart uses the lunar month of conception. If you only know LMP or due date, treat any derived conception date as an approximation.

Estimated Conception Is Approximate

Ovulation timing, cycle length and implantation timing can vary. For that reason, this page does not provide a precise medical conception calculator and does not claim to identify an exact conception day. Future versions may add LMP or due-date support with clear caveats.

How to Use This With the Predictor

If you know the conception date, enter it directly in the predictor. If you only have an estimated date, understand that a small difference can sometimes cross a lunar-month boundary, which may change the traditional chart lookup.
